Fresh Watermelon Juice in Orpington

Fresh Watermelon Juice at Crispy Dosa Orpington is blended to order from fresh watermelon and served cold. Nothing is added to it, and there is a good reason it never waits around.

Watermelon is mostly water, which makes this genuinely thirst-quenching rather than rich. Where apple and carrot sit sweet and heavy, watermelon is clean and light enough to drink quickly.

If you arrive thirsty, this is the glass to order first and something else afterwards. It is the lightest thing on our entire drinks list.

It also separates faster than any other juice we make. Left standing for a few minutes the pulp settles to the bottom, a pale foam gathers on top, and the flavour flattens along with it.

There is no way to prepare it in advance and have it taste right, so we do not try. It goes from the blender to your table.

Availability is worth being honest about. Watermelon is not grown commercially in the UK, so every melon we use is imported, and quality follows the growing season abroad rather than anything local.

Moroccan fruit runs until early June, Greek fruit peaks from early June, and Spanish fruit takes over from mid-July. Through the winter it comes from wherever it can. So it is available most of the year but genuinely best from June to September.

This is the drink to order with heat. Watermelon cools the palate faster than anything else on our menu, and because it is not sweet enough to cloy you can drink it right through a spiced meal.

It is also the least filling drink we serve, which matters more than it sounds. If you are ordering a full thali, this is the juice that will not take up room you would rather give to the food.

Naturally vegan and free from dairy and caffeine, with nothing added to it beyond ice.
