Chilled Coca-Cola is on the menu at Crispy Dosa Orpington at £2.49, served with ice, and available to dine in, as a takeaway, or added to any online order.
Cola works best on our menu against the fried and the savoury rather than the fiery. It sits well with medu vada, samosa and bhaji, where the sweetness balances the salt and the carbonation cuts through the oil.
Against real chilli heat it is less effective than most people assume. Carbonation and sugar do very little for capsaicin, the compound that makes chilli burn.
Dairy is what works, which is why lassi exists in the first place. If you have ordered something genuinely hot, a Pehalwan Lassi or one of our mango drinks will do far more for you than a cola will.
If you want the Indian version of a cola, we also stock Thums Up, created in India in 1977 when Coca-Cola left the market. It is drier, more heavily carbonated and has a spiced edge to it.
Thums Up holds up against spice better than a standard cola does. It is £3.99 because it is imported from India in glass, and if you have never tried it, this is a good place to.
If you would rather have something made than poured, our Fresh Lime Soda is squeezed to order from real limes with chilled soda water, sweet, salted or both. It is the drink we point cola drinkers towards.
You will find us at 273 High Street, Orpington, BR6 0NW, open ten to ten Monday to Friday and from nine at weekends. Everything on our menu is 100% pure vegetarian and cooked to order by our chefs from Chennai.
It is available with every meal we serve, including the lunch dosas and the full thalis, and it is the simplest thing to add to a delivery order if you are eating at home.
If you are ordering for a family, it sits on the menu at the same price as Frooti and Maaza, our two Indian mango drinks, which are worth a look for anyone who wants something different.
