Coke Zero in Orpington
Chilled Coke Zero is on the menu at Crispy Dosa Orpington at £2.49, served with ice, and available to dine in, as a takeaway, or added to any online order.
It keeps more of the body of a regular cola than Diet Coke does, which makes it the easier of the two to drink through a full meal rather than alongside a snack.
It handles the fried and savoury end of our menu well: medu vada, bhaji, a plain dosa, anything where a little sweetness and fizz balance the salt.
As with any cola, it does less against real chilli heat than people expect. Sugar and carbonation do not neutralise capsaicin, and in a sugar-free drink there is not even the sweetness to help.
Dairy is what works. If you have ordered something hot, a lassi will genuinely help and a cola will not, whichever version of it you choose.
If the appeal is having no sugar, two drinks on our menu get there without a sweetener at all. Our salted Fresh Lime Soda is real limes squeezed to order with chilled soda water and salt rather than sugar.
It is the sharpest, cleanest thing we serve, and the still version is our salted Fresh Lime Juice. Both are made when you order rather than poured, which is the difference worth paying for.
You will find us at 273 High Street, Orpington, BR6 0NW, open ten to ten Monday to Friday and from nine at weekends, serving 100% pure vegetarian food cooked to order by our chefs from Chennai.
It is available with every meal, dine in, collection or delivery, and it is the easiest thing to add at the end of an online order.
