Ginger is already in a great deal of what we cook. It is one of the two backbone spices in our Masala Tea, and it runs through the sambar and the chutneys that come with almost every dish.
So the flavour is not a foreign object on the table in the way a cola can be. It belongs with what is on the plate rather than sitting awkwardly beside it.
