Chilled lemonade is on the menu at Crispy Dosa Orpington at £2.49, served with ice, and available to dine in, as a takeaway, or added to any online order.

Sweet, clear and caffeine-free, it is an easy drink for children and an inoffensive one alongside most of our menu.

It does its best work against the fried and the salty: medu vada, samosa, bhaji, where a little sweetness balances the salt and the fizz cuts through the oil.

If you are ordering lemonade because you want something citrus and refreshing, our Fresh Lime Soda does the job properly, and it is worth knowing about before you decide.

That is real limes, cut and squeezed when you order, topped with chilled soda water. It is far sharper and much less sweet, because it is built on fruit rather than on flavouring and sugar.

You also choose how it is made: sweet, salted, or both at once. Salted is the traditional Indian version, and salt makes the lime taste sharper and cleaner rather than making the drink taste salty.

The salted version contains no added sugar at all. It is £5.99, and it is a genuinely different experience from a bottled lemonade. The still version of the same drink is our Fresh Lime Juice, known in India as nimbu pani.

We are at 273 High Street, Orpington, BR6 0NW, open ten to ten Monday to Friday and from nine at weekends, serving 100% pure vegetarian food cooked to order by our chefs from Chennai.

It is available with every meal, dine in, collection or delivery, and it is a simple addition to any online order.

At £2.49 it sits alongside 7up, Sprite and Fanta, and next to our two Indian mango drinks at the same price, so a table has plenty of room to experiment.
